...ABOUT

Love Purple!

I Sit And Look Out
Walt Whitman.

I sit and look out upon all the sorrows of the world, and upon all oppression and shame;
I hear secret convulsive sobs from young men, at anguish with themselves, remorseful after deeds done;
I see, in low life, the mother misused by her children, dying, neglected, gaunt, desperate;
I see the wife misused by her husband--I see the treacherous seducer of young women;
I mark the ranklings of jealousy and unrequited love, attempted to be hid--I see these sights on the earth;
I see the workings of battle, pestilence, tyranny--I see martyrs and prisoners;
I observe a famine at sea--I observe the sailors casting lots who shall be kill'd, to preserve the lives of the rest;
I observe the slights and degradations cast by arrogant persons upon laborers, the poor, and upon negroes, and the like;
All these--All the meanness and agony without end, I sitting, look out upon,
See, hear, and am silent.

      12.35

      So, the whole weekend consisted of crazy reading of one sem's worth of political science in two days. When I finally read the last word of the textbook at 12 midnight, hungry, and unshowered at business school last night, I realized that I was just.so.exhausted. 40 MCQs- I don't know whether it was worth studying for, since there were certainly a number of things I wouldn't have known if I completely didn't read. But it just feels A LOT to read for 40 MCQs!

      Yes, on the topic of 12:35! I walked out the moment we were allowed to leave early (1 hour), headed to the track, and decided to time my 2.4km for fun. And I clocked 12 min 35 sec, 1 min 10 sec faster than the last time I timed myself. It was pretty satisfying that I'm actually still capable it in the 12+ region. =) Now I'm motivated to try for 12 minutes (my timing during JC) once again!

      And yet, there was still this nagging voice at the back of my head- I wasn't even gasping for breath when I stopped, unlike the last time I timed myself, I barely sprinted to the finishing line... blah blah blah, which means I could have ran FASTER. Ok, I'm crazy. The Sundown run is coming up- I think I'll train up a little, and aim to run 10km just below an hour by 31st May.

      Finally, I had time to relax a bit at the gym today, mmmmmmm. Yesterday, I was glued to my PS textbook in between sets, but I must say, it's a pretty good way of staying AWAKE while studying! Today was gooooodddddddddd... just chilling, then threadmill, then a bit of slopes. =) Goodness, I had to litearlly drag my butt out of the gym, as usual. I've done weights two days consecutively now, I swear tomorrow I WILL NOT.

      NicNIc and I have been studying at various mugger hangouts in school, armed with his favourite sancha, sunflower seats, biscuits, cereal, garden vegetables (on the occassion when banban delivered them to us) and... ... COFFEE. I bought a big pack before reading week and we've finished it in less than two weeks.

      Here is the coffee boy. We actually bring my PURPLE cup and PURPLE bottle to the library so that we can make our own coffee, which we stir with my PURPLE chopstick. And the library auntie is always giving him the 'wth' look when he trots through the library door with the steaming hot purple things.

      I make studying sound so fun, hurhur. Yesterday, I was so stressed that I laughed at the most stupid thing, for half an hour. It started with NicNIC telling me wanted to soak up all his notes so that he could vomit it all out during exams.

      Me: You can be Spongebob Squarepants!

      Nic: No I don't like.

      Me: Okay okay you be Patrick. I need to sponge too. I be Spongebob.

      Nic: NO. I HATE PATRICK.

      Me: I know! You can be spongelemon. And I'll be spongeberry. Then we can both sponge our notes.

      Nic: No. You're Squareberry!

      Me: HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHHAA. Tomorrow, you be squeeze lemon, so that everything you sponge today come out during exams.

      *laugh all the way from outside of library to inside like a stark raving sane woman*

      Stomach seems recovered, so we had the best steamboat tomyum after exam! I like.

      'I look ugly today'

      The amazing garden veggies. Poor Ban Ban had to help us order 4 portions, with SIX packet of chili sauce.

      Okay, one more paper to go!
